In Cuellar there is a constant commitment and awareness with regard to health and safety of workers, partners, clients and contractors.

Our Prevention of Occupational Risks Department reviews and updates assiduously the regulations, procedures and equipments, ensuring a steady maintenance and improvement of working conditions.

This way, efficient operations and work safety are combined.

SUSTAINABILITY

Stone manufacturing process requires lower energy consumption than other materials.

From a sustainable perspective, natural stone is characterized by its durability, less energy consumption during the manufacturing, possibility of reuse and easy disposal by being an inert waste.

At the factory facilities of Cuellar in Almeria, we count on a last generation filter system which enables the total recycling of the wastewater generated during the stone cutting process. This way, the water used by the machinery for production is entirely recovered and reused without additional wastes.

On the other hand, the environmental benefits that are obtained thanks to the photovoltaic installation of 300 Kwn of Cuellar are the following ones:

- Production of 100% clean energy = 553.46 MWh/year (553,469 Kwh/year) x 25 years = 13836.74 Mwh (13,836,740 Kwh)
- Toe/year saved = 110.69 (tons of oil equivalent/year) x 25 years = 2767.35 Toe
- TCO2 / year avoided = 448.10 x 25 years = 11,207 Tons of CO2
- Equivalent to the CO2 absorbed by 7470 Trees /year x 25 years = 22,415 trees
- Equivalent to the carbon dioxide emitted by 153 cars / year x 25 years = 3,840 cars

Social

Cuellar’s values include the commitment to contribute to the social improvement in general and particularly to the personal and professional development of persons with disabilities at the Region of the Almanzora.

In this context, Cuellar has signed up an annual collaboration agreement with the Foundation Los Carrilles, a non-profit entity presided by Diego Martínez Cano (President of Cuellar Stone).

By the other hand, we work side by side with the Special Employment Centre Artediscap S.L.

Here it is shown day by day that in the natural stone sector, as in many other sectors, the SECs are profitable and besides strongly collaborate in the insertion of persons with special needs in society, enabling a stable job and fairly paid. In this case, they are real natural stone artisans.

EDUCATION

Over the years we receive visits of schools and universities students. During those excursions, we talk about the work carried out by a SME like Cuellar in the natural stone world, what can be achieved by searching quality and excellence, operating mode of this kind of industry, jobs created and necessary, type of education required, factory activity, etc.

With this, we hope to contribute to the clarifying of questions as well as to deliver new ideas for working possibilities to the groups visiting us.

In April 2013 Cuellar participated in the event – Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Globalization, by Mr. Diego Martínez Cano, CEO of Cuellar Arquitectura, and President of the Almería Commerce Chamber – conducted in the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), United States, where Cuellar talked about the importance of SME’s internationalization.

Anualmente recibimos becarios en diferentes aéreas – Comercio Internacional, Arquitectura, etc. – que realizan sus prácticas en nuestra empresa. Aquí nos esforzamos para que reúnan el conocimiento y saber-hacer necesarios para su andadura en el mundo laboral.

Our R&D Department collaborates with Universities and Technology Centers in order to develop innovative products and patents which add value to the products and services provided in this sector of manufacturing and installation of natural stone.

SPORT

Within its Corporative Social Responsibility, one of CuellarStone greatest bets is for sport activities.

We believe that sports gather and deliver at the same time all the benefits and characteristics yearnedfor a work team: health, well-being, teamwork, social ability, perseverance, overcoming spirit, discipline, efficiency and many more.

For that reason, we helped to found and sponsor the CD Cuellar Stone MR Team. Based in the Marble Region of Almería, they train and disseminate the trail running as a competition and hobby. Since 2016 and for 2 years in a row, the club organizes the Macael Mármol Trail.

Since 2017, CuellarStone supports the Basketball Municipal School of Macael. A team of young people whose debut has been a total success at the Almería Provincial Sports Games.

In the football world, since 2012, we are official sponsors of Cantoria F.C., which promotes the practice of sport in the category of Junior, Cadets, Seniors and Veterans.

Back in 2012, Diego Martínez Cano – President of CuellarStone – together with Ana María Antolín Cruz, begins the patronage agreement with the Foundation los Carrilles, on behalf of Club Deportivo Los Carriles – a sports club for people with intellectual disabilities, at Macael. Since its foundation, this club has obtained several awards at a regional and national level.

Equally, every year we cooperate with several sports events, some of them with a social nature, such as the Charity Run Jaime Jiménez, that has been held in Cantoria since 2012.
